A seasoned angler both on and off the boat, DiNoto is the perfect guide to help you on your way to your first ice fishing adventure.
Do you want to try out ice fishing but don’t know where to start? Off-Shore Fisherman Rob DiNoto has the full kit list for you, including all of the supplies you will need! Here is everything a beginner will need to go ice fishing:
Ice Auger
The first and most crucially important item in your ice fishing gear kit will be an ice auger. This tool is utilized in order to make a hole in the ice. This is crucial, as you will need to drill a hole to access the fish that you want to catch. An ice auger is essentially a giant drill that uses four to eight inch blades to cut through the ice.
Ice Scoop
Next, you will need an ice scoop to remove the chips that you will create with your ice auger. Community Leader and Off-Shore Fisherman Rob DiNoto recommends bringing along a ladle style scoop, as these seem to work the best.
Buckets
You will need at least one standard 5 gallon bucket to take on your ice fishing adventure. This is perhaps the most versatile piece of equipment in Rob DiNoto’s kit, believe it or not! You can utilize the bucket to carry your gear, store your catch and easily remove excess ice chunks.
